I am writing on behalf of Marines with the 26th MEU. We are all very
grateful of the many packages you have sent. We strongly appreciate the
time, consideration, and selflessness you have all shown. Some of the
Marines in my charge haven't a family to send them packages, or maybe
just cannot afford it. The packages are appreciated by all, but not as
much as those who hadn't received anything from the states before your
thoughtful packages arrived. I hope most these Marines find the time to
write. We are busy and I wanted all to know how much you at the S.O.M.,
including your other volunteers and contributors, are appreciated. You
are all doing your part in this valiant war effort. Thanks to you our
morale is that much higher. A special thank you to all the school
children who took part. I am glad that these Marines see the cities of
Northwest Indiana on their packages. Being from Valparaiso myself I feel
especially proud. Thank you all for your caring patriotism.
